A Dance Spectacular
at the Plaza Theatre
Inspired by Hector Serrano’s original Viva El Paso!, Zapateados is a full-length dance production featuring the cultures that have influenced the El Paso Southwest: Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo American. The emphasis is on the footwork--zapateado--that defines each dance style. It is a way of illuminating our differences and our similarities through music and dance for residents and visitors alike.
Mythological pre-Hispanic dance, passionate Flamenco, lively Folklorico, a high energy Hoedown, and other folk dances will fill the stage with home-grown talent. Choreography by Enrique Avila, this show promises to instill pride in our city and our heritage.
